Facebook has assumed mammoth importance in our lives that we can’t imagine going through a single day without logging in to the social networking website. It has almost become mandatory to post 3-4 updates a day and upload pictures the minute they are taken so that our friends can “Like” and comment on them. But the social network has also played a crucial role in saving someone’s life. I came across this story sometime back and wanted to share it with you guys. Danny Manes and Gary Ramirez were chatting online about methods they could devise, in order to reach at-risk kids. They were weighing the different pros and cons of the various techniques when they came across a Facebook status, posted by a boy in his teens, which stood out like a red flag as it indicated severe suicidal tendencies.
